Richmond, Virginia. Yeah, that's where the adventure began. Think historic charm with a seriously cool undercurrent. It's where I cut my teeth and learned to own my voice. Now, this Brooklyn scene is my tea, but Richmond definitely laid the foundation for all this
Standing up for what you believe in can take so many forms, move in countless directions, and find its voice through a wealth of different avenues. It's about finding your way to make a difference.
Honestly, drag pulled me through a really tough time. It gave me something to focus on, a feeling that there was meaning in it all. Now, whenever I have the opportunity to share what it's given me...
It flipped my perspective on my art. I started to see that the very thing I used to long for – that sense of escape – was something I could actually embody myself.
I'm obsessed with Jim Henson!
Sasha Colby's talent at Continental? I was obsessed. I must have watched that performance on YouTube a million times in high school, just trying to figure out how she moved with such effortless grace and hit every mark with such precision. Seriously, it was mind-blowing, and even now, it gives me goosebumps.
You know, someone who's really inspiring me right now, and honestly, has been for ages, is Janet Jackson. Her dedication to her artistry and that constant drive to push boundaries has always been incredible to witness. She's like a true north star of inspiration!
What I really want is for people to know how much work and love has gone into this. I'm almost bursting with excitement to finally show them my art. My deepest hope is that they find something in it, anything at all, that speaks to them. And if they take away one thing, I hope it's the simple truth of being unapologetically themselves.
